Use as a foundation layer to level or set brick, paver stones and boarders. Fill cracks between bricks by generously applying sand to the surface while sweeping sand into any open crevices. Repeat periodically as needed. Sprinkle as needed onto slippery walkways. Sand can also improve vehicle traction on snow and ice covered roads. Sand can be used at all temperatures and is especially valuable when it is too cold for chemical deicers to work. Sand can be a good aggregate in the mixing of concrete and mortar.
